Sussex Contemporary return to Ditchling Barn for ArtWave 2025, extending it outwards with a hardstanding, temporary exhibition space. Jo Myles has been developing innovative pop-up gallery walling to bring the Sussex Contemporary experience to this village of global creative importance.

Nestled in the heart of the South Downs, next to the Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft. The Barn is central to village life and community; we are delighted to return for a second time in 2025, showcasing a new and innovative way of using this historic space.

The Land We Live Within asked the artists to respond to the way they live within the landscapes we occupy in this moment of time.

As we leave the summer months behind—after what has already proven to be an exceptionally busy and bustling period at UNO—we prepare for an equally lively and vibrant autumn, beginning with ARTWAVE 2025, the annual festival of visual arts in the Lewes, Seaford, and Newhaven district. The resident Sussex Arts Collective at UNO has long been associated with the Artwave Festival, having its origins in an open house venue many years ago and winning the Best Venue competition twice!

From 6th to 21st September 2025, the Lewes District comes alive with colour, creativity, and community for Artwave 2025, one of Sussex’s most celebrated open art festivals. With over 1,000 artists and 163 exhibitions, it offers an immersive journey through ceramics, textiles, painting, photography, and more. Visitors are invited to explore studios, galleries, and unexpected spaces across Lewes, Seaford, Newhaven, and neighbouring villages. Beyond the art, it’s a chance to meet makers, uncover stories, and support local talent. Whether you're an art lover, a curious wanderer, or a collector, Artwave is an invitation to discover what inspires Sussex’s creative pulse.
